I have two existing doorbells (with speakers) that are connected to a no-longer-functioning Nutone Intercomm system.  I have located the wires and the existing two transformers which are 24V 40 VA each.  The two transformers are  NOT connected to each other.  They were originally wired to different ports on the Intercomm motherboard.

I have disconnected the existing door bell wiring from the Intercomm (4 wires for each door:  2 for push button, 2 for speaker).

Questions:

1.  is the 24V 40 VA transformer acceptable or do I have to downgrade to a 16-24V 10 VA transfomer?

2.  Do I need to use the Power Kit or can I connected the doorbell directly to the transformer?

     - if Yes, am I correct that the wiring would be:

            a. wire 1 from the doorbell to the transformer

            b.  wire 2 from the doorbell to the Power Kit and then onward from the Power Kit to the other transformer terminal

            c.  ignore the other 2 wires

            d.  do i set the Power Kit in Bypass mode?

3. Of what benefit is the Arlo Chime 2 (will it work similarly as a Chimebox)?

4. If I integrate with Alexa, can my Echo devices provide the notification and ability to watch the camera feed from the doorbell?

Thanks.

Yes

No, you only need it if there is a chime on the circuit.

You want to have

transformer -------> doorbell

           ^                                  V

           |                                    |

           +-------------------+

Note you only need one 40 watt transformer to power the doorbells.  So you can wire them both to one transformer (in parallell)

        + --------------------------+-------------------+

         |                                               |                                  |

         ^                                            V                                  V

         |                                              |                                   |

Transformer                          Doorbell 1              Doorbell 2

         |                                              |                                   |

        V                                             V                                 V

         |                                              |                                   |

        + --------------------------+-------------------+

Save the power kits, because if you do add a traditional or digital chime later on then you likely will need them. Arlo doesn't sell them separately.

It serves as a chime (though it is connected to the Arlo cloud via wifi).  https://kb.arlo.com/000062573/Arlo-Chime-2-FAQ

Not a feature I use, but it is described here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062192/How-can-I-use-my-Arlo-Doorbell-with-Amazon-Alexa
