The battery indicator never shows less than about  40%, but it stops working (I can tell because I stop getting motion notifications for awhile) and then once I charge it, it's fine again.  Anyone else have this problem?

Then it has to be the older AVD2001, and not the newer 2nd gen Essential doorbells.

If you want to try the reset procedure, you remove the doorbell from the account and use the reset pin as described here:

You then need to add the doorbell back to your account, and go through the installation process again.

I don't know if that will resolve your issue or not.   It sounds like the doorbell's estimation of battery charge level is off.

One workaround would be to get a second battery that you keep charged, and then just swap batteries when the doorbell stops working.  Though of course you could also charge the battery when the level reaches 50% or so.

Which wire-free doorbell - the old AVD2001 or one of the new Essential 2  (AVD3001 or 4001)? It may be worth removing, resetting and reinstalling the doorbell:

It's the newer one (Essential) wireless.
