Hi,
I own a duplex that we use as a single family home. theres two doorbells. what would i need to install my Arlo doorbell and have it ring in both units? The current doorbells are a couple inches away from each other.

Are the doorbells connected to traditional chimes, or are you using the Arlo Chime/Chime 2?
The basic method is to connect one of the transformers leads going to the doorbells to the single doorbell, and disconnect/cap the other. Then join both leads going to the two chimes, and connect them to the single doorbell. If you use the AVD1001s, you'd only need a single power kit (could be on either chime). You'd need to make sure the transformer has sufficient power to drive both chimes (and of course power the doorbell).
While it would be possible to do this yourself, it might be wise to use an electrician, as it can be tricky to keep track of what wires go where.
