I remember seeing a post mentioning the lag with LIVE streaming of doorbell, to the level that the lag itself is a show-stopper to the doorbell itself.
I now have this question, regarding the 2K video doorbell (AVD4001-AUS for Australia here) WITHOUT SUBSCRIPTION and with VMB5000
- What is the lag time with LIVE streaming? Roughly how many seconds are we talking about?
- Is LIVE interaction good enough -- when user app is connected to home WIFI network?
- Is LIVE interaction good enough --- when user app is VPN-ed back home WIFI, via mobile 4G?
Experience to share will be much appreciated. Thanks!
Alex

Lag is there if my doorbell is connected to the SmartHub. If it's connected to the router, there is no lag with video being almost instantaneous, maybe just 1s-2s delay. It also depends on the type of connection you have, more specifically fibre Vs DSL, and how good the provider is, as well as the DNS servers you use, not to mention the type of WiFi connection you use to access the app and whether or not there is any WiFi channel interference. Not sure what your purpose of finding this out is - is it to troubleshoot your own connection problem, or market research type of thing? Either way, it'll depend on lots of factors as you and I mentioned, but if the latter, I don't really see the point in that, given the many factors influencing the connection quality.

thanks. I might just want to focus on direct wifi connection from ARLO app to home WIFI router (ie forget about ISP/VDSL/4G whatever). What are your experience to Q1 and Q2 please?
