I just bought an Arlo Video Doorbell (2nd Generation), but when I try to set it up in the Arlo app, the model doesn’t appear in the list.

Has anyone else had this issue or knows how to fix it?

Not attacking you. You seem like a nice guy. But in tech, you need to actually know before you give advice. Not just say words and waste people's time.

The best advice to give this guy is: Sorry, you should work on returning this doorbell if you can.

I just went through a whole entire thread of a bunch of Spanish people telling you it didn't work.

Don't know what thread you were looking at.  Can you provide a link?

Lots of folks in other countries have said it worked for them.  That includes many in South America, as well as Africa and the Middle East.  Folks in Europe also said it worked for them (back when some of these cameras were not available there). Also people moving into those countries from places where the cameras were supported have said here that their cameras continued to work (when they stayed with their original account).

As I said, Arlo could potentially add geolocation on here, as they clearly are doing with AI features.  They wouldn't report that, since they don't want to encourage folks to work around the legal limitations on their subscriptions.  But if there is evidence that has happened, it would be useful to know it.

My sole reason for jumping in here was to help people. The official Arlo support channels leaves 95% of customers hung out to dry. I'm not doing that. Not going to give this nice person false hope. I'd love to find a solution and get a result. But there is no path for it. Do 5 minutes of research and you'll see others in the same region said it didn't work.

@alex_loo you are correct it is not available in their region and that is why they are not seeing it during set up.

@StephenB is also correct, there is a lot of users that have successfully set up devices in a country they are not supported. By doing the steps that he suggested.

Once the system is set up you don't need the VPN.

Actually you can't install with the VPN running.

Yup forgot the account creation part. Thanks.

When it doesn't work @BrookeN are you going to apologize to both me and the original poster for wasting his or her time?

@StephenB just a bit of question on technical side ( @Chann can skip, to avoid confusion).

If I VPN to US, on home router level (ie both app and camera are vpn-ed to US), will the account creation part work?

@RichWood sorry, but why would @BrookeN need to apologise? The second gen doorbell doesn't work in an unsupported country. It's up to individual users from such countries to experiment to get it working if they wish so, and to waste their time if they want to do so, so I don't see why Arlo staff should apologise here - what for?

Yes, it will work as long as the VPN egress is in the US.
