The smart/base use a closed wifi connection to the cameras which they can only access so no wifi password is required. They connect to the internet via a Ethernet cable to your router.

Where are you seeing the password request?

my router was changed and now the hub will not connect to the cameras.  Says they are offline.  I thought it needed the new password.  How do I make it recognize the new router.  Thanks

Usually just unplug the Ethernet cable from the old router and plug into the new router.

Do you have the base online in the arlo app?

What model arlo base/hub do you have and what LEDs are showing and colour?

Do you know if the camera batteries are still charged, if the base has been turned off for sometime the cameras will discharge more quickly.

cameras were all just charged   bottom of hub saysVMB5000B   unplugged ethernet from hub, waited a while then plugged it back in.   Says everything if offline including the hub

mammy202,

A slow flashing amber LED on the hub typically indicates a camera connectivity issue. You can see here for more information on LED behaviors: https://kb.arlo.com/000039100/What-do-the-LEDs-on-my-Arlo-SmartHub-or-Base-Station-mean

That said, it could also be an indication that the hub is not connected or is also experiencing connectivity issues. If you log in to the Arlo mobile app and navigate to Settings > My Devices > select your SmartHub > what do you see?

Just to make this very clear - you DON'T.  The smarthub connects to the router over ethernet.  Its wifi is only for the cameras, and you cannot connect other devices to it.  You cannot configure it either.

As @JamesC says, this is a connection error.  While normally it is a connection error with the cameras, I suggest checking that both ends of the ethernet cable between the base and the router are properly seated.  If the router has multiple LAN ports, also try moving the router connection to another port.
