Buongiorno,

Ho installato alro ultra 2 e le trovo veramente fenomenali, ma non riesco a  capire come funziona inoltro porte , leggo che devo far autorizzare dal mio fornitore internet la l.invio di dati dalla porta che mi dà app arlo.

Dove la trovo questa porta?

Scusatemi se vi sembra una domanda banale ma non riesco proprio a capire.

Port forwarding is a setting in your router. Arlo provides you with the IP address that is currently assigned to your hub to be used when you go to the router settings. Exactly how to set up port forwarding on your router depends on the exact model and manufacturer of your router. You may need to download the router's manual and/or check with the router's support people.

There are some things to set up on the router:

1) You should use the IP address that Arlo supplies to you so you can create a static IP address in the router's DHCP settings. This is important since a reboot of the hub or router can cause that address to change. Setting it to be a fixed address will simplify the overall usage.

2) The port forwarding settings open a hole in your router's firewall so anyone can access whatever is using that port. That is a security hole but it's "security by obscurity", meaning that someone would have to take the time and effort to perform the scan to find it and then need a way to utilize what they find.

Arlo also suggests use of the router's VPN capabilities, if the manufacturer offers that. After enabling that in the router's settings, you would follow the directions to install the VPN app on your phone and add in the settings supplied. This is a very secure way of connecting and may be less confusing than setting up port forwarding.

FYI, this is an English forum.  I don't speak Italian, so I am relying on google translate.  Hopefully it is accurate.

The first consideration is whether you actually need remote access to your local storage.  The user experience is much better with a subscription, and if you have a subscription you can see the recordings in the cloud, so you don't really need to bother with port forwarding.

In most cases, you do not need to contact your ISP to forward ports.  You'd make the changes in your router settings.
