Ultra smart hub VMB5000 goes offline every 8-12 hours. Blinks amber until I reset it,

Hub blinks orange until reset, the alternates blue/amber, the finally back to blue. Repeats ever day every 8-12 hours. Located near computer desk which has strong wi-fi and no issues.

How close is the hub to the router? If very close, try moving it as far as the cable allows or at least as far as practical.

I recently had a seemingly similar issue. Power cycling my modem, router and hub somehow seemed to fix it. Rebooting the hub and router earlier did not. Could have been a coincidence but...
