Apologies in advance if my early post actually made it to the boards, but I couldn't find it.
Doing research to purchase either the Ultra or Pro2, and I need some clarity on the Ultra Local and Remote Live Streaming features. I found 2 KB webpages that seem to contradict.
The first KB page: "How do I stream in 4K with my Arlo Ultra camera?"
https://kb.arlo.com/000062127/How-do-I-stream-in-4K-with-my-Arlo-Ultra-camera
I'm not sure I understand a couple of the options.
On the 1st option to "view live video in 4K from Arlo Ultra" :
"• Your mobile device is connected to the same *local network* as your Arlo SmartHub or base station. This lets you live stream 4K content."
I'm reading this to mean my mobile device is connected to my router (like a hotspot), and I use the app to view live video. Correct?
On the 3rd option:
"• You subscribed to the Arlo Premier Video add-on service to store motion recordings in 4K quality to the Arlo Cloud to access wherever you have a mobile date connection."
Is this 3rd option the only way to view "live" video remotely?

The other KB page seems to contradict the one above:
https://kb.arlo.com/000062162/What-options-will-I-have-when-the-Arlo-Smart-Premier-1-year-service-pl...
"Without a service plan, your Arlo Ultra camera will continue to have the following feature...
• Remote and local live streaming
And last question: If I choose the Ultra system, is it possible to live stream remotely in 1080p without a subscription?
Thanks.

It does mean the same router as the Ultra base is plugged into... not sure if it will respond same if on an extender... tho it does work on an Orbi satellite ( but they have same ssid/pw )
You subscribed to the Arlo Premier Video add-on service to store motion recordings in 4K quality to the Arlo Cloud to access wherever you have a mobile date connection."

Yes... it is an extra cost feature to record to the cloud in 4K... but also your device still needs to support 4K playback

remote streaming without the extra paid plan is streaming at not 4K, yes in 1080.

TomMac,
Thank you for your answers and for the support links!
I'm 90% convinced to go for the Ultra System instead of the Pro2.
One of the biggest pluses is the microSD card recording feature.
Glad to know there is a great forum community and KB to help get me through the set up, and learn how to manage the streaming features.
Thanks!!

The Pro 2 also records locally, but to USB drives, with an option to have two of them.
As things are now, we have been promised changes, in neither case can you access the recordings without removing the USB drive/card from the hub.
