We have just taken out subscription for Arlo Ultra camera which is WiFi however camera is now saying that ‘AC power has been disconnected from your Arlo device. CVR is currently disabled’. Worked ok before but now won’t record. Does the camera now need to be hardwired rather than work through the WiFi for recordings to happen. Have removed activity zones and that didn’t help.

CVR has always required AC power to work. Continuous recording isn't practical when battery-only.
So I am thinking you didn't have a CVR subscription before.
If the camera isn't AC powered, you should cancel the CVR subscription and just go with Elite.
