Some motion sensing security lights have greater than 20’ range. I have been brainstorming on ways to artificially extend the range on the camera. I doubt this would work, but at night, if the camera is sensing an area covered by a security light, would the security light turning on be enough to trigger motion in the camera?

Prob not with a PIR detector....
But it does work well with the Q cameras as they use pixel change detection to see motion... my outside flood starts a recording every time ( camera looking thru double pane andersen window )

It might also work with an Ultra that is AC powered.

I will report back my results. I plan to power my cameras.

It’s good to know the sensing technology (PIR). Visible light probably won’t trigger it. I will continue to brainstorm ideas. Thanks.
