They are dull because they are disabled.

I think I get what you are wanting to do - not sure if it is possible or not.

  • Do you ever want to disarm any cameras on schedule?
  • Or do you only want to enable the Siren on weekends (leaving the cameras armed all the time)?

Also

  • Do you want to arm the Siren 24x7 when you are away on vacation (or just not home for awhile)?

Hi @StephenB

What I would like is the cameras to record 24/7. Between the hours of 12.30am and 5am if motion is detected then also sound the siren. This used to work fine before the automation configurations where introduced to the platform

I suggest first setting up "Arm Away" to arm all cameras and sound the siren when motion is detected.  Set up "Arm Home" to arm the cameras, and not sound the siren.

Then set up three schedule automations

  1. switching the system to "Arm Home" every day at 5 am.
  2. switching the system to "Arm Away" every Sunday to Thursday at 12:30am
  3. switching the system to "Arm Away" every Friday and Saturday at 2 am.

Make sure these are enabled in "Arm Home" and "Arm Away" but not in Standby.  You can this either in the mode setting screens or by making the enable list on the automation screen (right below the automation name) is set to "Arm Home" and "Arm Away".

If you want the siren to be enabled 24x7 when you are on vacation, then you will need to manually change the mode to "Arm Away".  Then disable the first automation in the "Arm Away" mode.  Then the siren will remain enabled until you re-enable the first automation in "Arm Away" and manually switch to "Arm Home".
