Can someone assist explaining the best way(s) to achieve my desired setup? I read another user was told to add an extra Hub to run a second schedule.

What I am trying to achieve, and I thought I setup correctly, but it doesn't work, is to have my outside camera(s) scheduled all the time, but my inside cameras record at night.

I was able to do individual custom schedules for each camera. I was able to create a geofence where when at home it uses the custom schedules. However it seems to just keep everything armed when at home still.

Also the notification when in geo mode is not clearable on my mobile like the motion notifications are.

Any wisdom is appreciated. Thank you very much.

Not with Ultra 2 cameras, since they are connected to a smarthub. If you use a smarthub, you schedule the smarthub modes, not individual cameras. You can still do what you want, but the steps are a bit different.

  • Can you confirm what camera model you have?
  • Whether they are connected to a base/smarthub or to a base.

The first step is to create a custom mode that includes rules for the outdoor cameras, but not the indoor ones. When this custom mode is manually selected, only the outdoor cameras will be armed. The indoor ones will be disarmed.

The second step is to create a schedule that uses the custom mode during the day, and which uses the armed mode at night. Since you can't schedule across midnight, you will need one entry that ends at 11:59 pm, and a second one that starts at midnight.

If you also want the indoor cameras to record when you are not home, then set the geofencing "home" mode to schedule, and the "away" mode to "armed".

I suggest doing these steps in order - first creating and testing the custom mode, then creating and testing the schedule, and finally setting up and testing the geofencing.

So this is a more clever version of what I setup previously. I had overlapping schedules before which I think may not be possible.

I just tried your suggestion and the schedules don't work for whatever reason. It doesn't seem like this feature is functioning correctly.

Right now only the outside cameras are scheduled, but the inside cameras still detect motion, record, turn on the spotlight, notify. They are ignoring the schedule.

I take that back. The custom mode for only outside cameras still has the inside cameras functioning. It isn't the schedule, it's the mode that appears broken.

Try deleting it, and recreating it.

.

If that doesn't help, try restarting the smarthub.

.

A factory reset might be needed, but hopefully the steps above will work.

Deleting and adding a custom mode for outside cams only did not work; No change.

Power cycling the smart hub did not work; No change.

Factory resetting the smart hub, re-adding and configuring the cameras, creating a custom mode for outside cameras did not work; No change.

There is no situation that stops a camera from detecting motion and notifying. They completely ignore the selected custom mode.

They are all armed all the time no matter what unless manually toggled off.

I'm tagging the mods ( @JamesC and @ShayneS ), so Arlo can follow up.

Thank you StephenB.

Mods, do you have any suggestions? I can't get custom modes to work.

The arlo app updated pretty dramatically today. I now have the five option app with feed where as I formerly had the library 3 option app.

I tried setting inside cams to detect motion at night, outside cams all the time when at home, with all armed while away. I used the automations tab to set it up.

It still keeps all cams detecting motion. No change. Any help appreciated.

I just want my inside cams to detect motion at night when I'm home. Outside cams always detecting. All cams detecting when away.

Hi @Reppin513

Would you mind providing a screenshot of the 2 mode settings Arm Home, Arm Away and the affected schedules. I am escalating this to the dev team and they have requested this information if possible.

For the screenshots, you can PM me if you like or add here. For the data in the screenshots, can you navigate to Routines > Press the 3 dot circle in the top right > tap the Arm Away Setting Cog wheel, Take a screenshot of the devices. Please repeat for Arm Home.

For the Schedules, can you navigate to Routines > Tap the automations tab at the top next to home > Take a screenshot of the overview (All visible schedules) > then please tap the 3 dots in the top right > Select the schedule >. take a screenshot > Please repeat for all the schedules affected in your post.

I will provide this to the Dev team as soon as received.

Thank you!

I may have gotten it to work since the app updated.

I have home using all cameras, I have standby using only outside cameras.  I have an automation schedule to change between the modes. I then have an automation to change between home and away that also uses all the cameras.  I think this works, though have yet to have an away trigger yet, and I may discover bugs to my desired setup in time.

The modes option at the top of an automation is confusing. I just think documentation or tutorials for common setups is lacking.

And the previous version of the app definitely did not respect custom modes at all.
