The SD card goes into the base (VMB5000). The minimum size is 16 GB. I haven't seen a maximum size, but there are posters here who have successfully used 512 GB cards.
Personally I use 128 GB cards. Arlo says the data rate is 3 megabits (which in my experience is high). But assuming that rate, 128 GB will give you about 95 hours of storage - (128*8000)/(3*3600)

This Knowledge Base Article states up to 2 TB; "Do not use the Arlo base station or SmartHub to format storage devices with more than 2 TB of storage capacity. The base station formats storage devices using the FAT32 file system, which supports a maximum of 2 TB of storage space. The formatting process reduces the capacity of larger storage devices to a maximum of 2 TB."
You can find more info here: How do I set up local storage backups on a USB device using my Arlo base station?

True, but that is specific to USB storage, which is different from the microSD storage. It's possible that the upper limit of the microSD storage is less than 2 TB.
It'd be good to have a KB article that gives the max for microSD explicitly.
