Camera focus for recognition

I just purchased and set up a Smart Hub and two of the three Ultra 2 cameras... 

Inanimate objects whether stationary or moving are crystal clear, but I couldn't identify myself with how miserable the clarity is in these cameras ability to focus on a human. Is there a setting or something I'm missing? #ultra2

NVM... I just talked to my IT guy. It's not a problem with anything that Arlo can correct... it's just a truly inferior product. Thankfully I only blew $500 on this junk. They interpret 4k in a similar fashion than mobile carriers label 5G. False marketing and fraud. This product is junk!

Thanks, but I've done all that already. It doesn't have the resolutions or motion detection range that I need. I'll buy a better system and just use these to look in on my chickens when I'm bored.

It would be nice if one of the procedures was to be able to tell multiple cameras to start recording so at least the first camera that didn't start recording in time to catch a license plate would alert the next two cameras fire up before before they made it within 25' ( which i have tested and is variable).

These cameras aren't suitable for license plate capture.  If that is what you are looking for then you should get cameras that are intended for that purpose.

Generally you want a narrower field of view (to get at least 100 pixels across the license plate).  A high frame rate is also important in order to reduce motion blur.  If you are capturing plates at night, you might also need to add some lighting, as glare from the vehicle lights can result the plate being too dark in the image.

FWIW, powering the cameras with AC might have solved your cross-triggering lag, as then the pre-roll ("Foresight") feature would give you a couple more seconds in the recording.  Not sure how you set up the cross-trigger, but the best way is to put it in the rules in the mode (not in an automation).  But I still wouldn't use these cameras for license plate capture.
