No scam - my Ultras last months without needing a charge. It does depend on camera placement as well as the amount of recording and live viewing being used. If the signal strength/quality is low the camera will eat battery trying to maintain the connection, just as a cell phone does in a marginal location. House construction can also be an issue - what's yours?

How many recordings per day are you getting? How long are the recordings? Add up all the time spent in one day along with any time spent live viewing to see if you're exceeding 5 minutes-ish total.
