I purchased an Ultra 2 package and then purchased two XL housing and batteries for the extended life. We live in a city and the regular battery ran out far too quickly from normal activity in our area.
The mounting nuts inside the XL housing keep stripping out of the plastic (see picture) each time I try to screw them onto an Arlo indoor/outdoor mount (VMA1000-10000S). And I'm not using an excessive amount of force or torque. As soon as it hits resistance, the mounting nut spins in the housing and the entire camera will not stay on the bracket. One of these was even a warranty replacement because of this exact scenario. Either way, the XL housing is not manufactured in a sturdy manner, unlike the regular camera housing which has metal reinforcement in the back of the housing. I've never had an issue with the regular size housing.
Since there are no product reviews on the Arlo site, I at least wanted to leave something in these forums. Beware that these XL housings are not well designed/manufactured.

Have you tried gluing the mounting nut into the housing?

Or not cranking down on the camera when threading it? The nut is mounted in plastic after all. Also, a better solution could be to reposition the camera to eliminate unwanted detections/recordings and/or reducing motion sensitivity.
