Question by Darren Chaker : As Arlo is leader in security technology, I am curious to know if it intends to release a new line of cameras designed specifically to read license plates. This innovation has already revolutionized the way homeowner associations (HOAs) and private businesses monitor and manage their properties, offering a range of benefits.

For homeowner associations, the introduction of license plate recognition (LPR) cameras would provide an efficient and effective way to monitor access to gated communities or restricted areas. By automatically identifying vehicles entering or leaving the premises, HOAs can improve security and ensure that only authorized individuals are granted access. Additionally, the data captured can help enforce parking regulations, identify potential security threats, and track any suspicious activity in real time, fostering a safer environment for residents.

Private businesses, particularly those in retail or office spaces with large parking lots, would also find significant value in Arlo’s LPR cameras. These cameras could help prevent unauthorized parking, assist in managing guest access, and even support billing for parking services. By linking the cameras with a digital system, businesses could automatically issue parking citations or allow for seamless valet or self-parking management. Moreover, in high-traffic areas or near high-value assets, the cameras could serve as a deterrent to theft or vandalism - for a example a business who falls victim to a smash and grab robbery may capture the plate of the getaway car and provide it to police.

The ease of integration with existing security systems and the potential for cloud storage of data would make Arlo's LPR cameras an attractive solution for both HOAs and private businesses. With this new technology, Arlo could empower these entities to enhance security, improve operational efficiency, and promote a higher standard of safety for their communities and clients.

With the above in mind, does Arlo intend to release such a line of cameras? If it has, I would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction.

Sadly, my ultra2 has a hard time reading plates even when you view /zoom in the recording.

It’s almost like they go out of their way to ‘blur’ the plate rather the identify it.
