Can I hook my base station to Metronet or do I need a LAN line and router? Thx

You need to connect the base with ethernet.  AFAICT, Metronet service includes an Eero router so you should be able to connect your base to one of its LAN ethernet ports.  

If you are switching to Metronet, all you should need to do is connect the base to the new router.  No need to uninstall/reinstall anything.
