Is there any way to view recordings in your library on the app without paying money?? Why do you have to pay now? In my older arlo cameras I could view recordings in My library without paying for a subscription

Direct access to local storage is the path with the VMB4540 or VMB5000. You need to install a microSD card in the VMB5000 (at least 16 GB). https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it
There are a number of limitations
- local recordings can only be viewed from the app (not a PC browser)
- local recordings can only be viewed from the primary account (not friend accounts)
- you can't make manual recordings or take snapshots
- there are no thumbnails
- remote access can be difficult to set up (requires port forwarding and enabling a VPN in your router).
While many do find these limitations acceptable, I prefer the convenience of the subscription. I still do have direct storage enabled as a backup.
