I have Arlo Essential cam that connected to the base station. I want a mode where I don’t receive motion notifications when the cam detects motion.  I can’t figure out how to do it.  When I click “do nothing” it doesn’t let me save the mode.

Not sure what you wish to achieve, the camera rule needs to do something which is why it won’t save.

Usually you record the camera or another camera or start a siren.

Once you set it to do something you can then uncheck the alert’s push notification and email.

Since the camera is connected to a Base station you would normally setup the modes in the base.

I am trying to set it up where I don’t receive push notifications  when motion from a certain camera.

I go thru the steps but I am unable to save the mode or rule.

What arlo app version are you using, iOS, android or web browser?

I know that it is working ok using iOS 3.6.8 so could be a bug with 4.0.1. There have been reports of weird problems using the latest app across different platforms.

I just updated to iOS v4.0.2 and confirmed that I can save a camera rule with no push notifications ok. This is with recording enabled, the save button goes grey without it enabled.

There is a way to have no push notifications and no video recording.  I had it before and I deleted by accident.   I wish the support was better.

Those settings are in your modes and rules. Check any appropriate rule to verify the proper settings. Also verify that you've chosen the proper mode to be active.

Going back to this...

Don't click "do nothing".  Instead have the camera record.  The step after that is the one that sets up notifications.

There is a way to fudge the the camera rule if already created.

Uncheck record, uncheck push notifications, select email, tap email pencil, select edit, delete email address then select save. Back out of the rule without making any more changes.

The only purpose for doing I can see is for this to make a dummy rule that would cause the camera to turn on but do nothing in the event of motion triggering.

Is this your intent?

Well I am still receiving push notifications.  Does have to do with being armed or disarmed?

I just checked my test mode and no notifications or recordings occurred.

I am not able to see the screenshots until a moderator approves them so have to wait until after the weekend.

The mode configuration needs to be armed at least. My mode is set to a test custom mode with the camera rule set not to record or send push notifications or emails.

The way you have described your requirement it would have been easier to remove the camera rule from the armed mode.

Agreed.

If you wanted recordings but no notifications, then having the rule record but not notifify would have been the right path.  But if you don't want recordings, then removing the camera rule altogether is what you want to do.  That disarms the camera.
