Hi, I have granted access to my wife by sending an invite which been received and verified successfully and I have installed the Arlo Secure app on her phone and successfully logged in.

However, on her iPhone 14 the Arlo app doesn't show up in location services. I have tried offloading, deleting and reinstalling the app many times with many restarts of the phone but whatever I do the app doesn't show in location services for me to enable. The phone is a new iPhone 14 running iOS 17.6.1 . Any suggestions or guidance would be most welcome. Please assume I know nothing, I'll not be offended by what might be rather obvious. Thanks!

Hi Mike and all,

I faced the same problem when my wife bought a new iphone.

She wasn't able to turn on the location services for Arlo app on her iPhone and therefore I couldn't add her device for geofencing. I got the same message that Mike has posted here.

I solved the problem by logging in to Arlo app on my wife's iPhone using my Arlo account and then opening the geofence settings there. Then the app requested to use location services and I was able to allow it.

The app did ask me if I would set my wife's iPhone as a trusted device when I log in my Arlo account, but I didn't add it. Of course that device is set trusted for my wife's account.

Then I logged out from wife's device and she logged again in with her account and then I was finally able to add her device to be used in geofencing!

Have you gone into Settings->Arlo Secure and enabled location there?

Hi Stephen, thanks for your reply. It was already enabled in the app settings. I've tried toggling it on/off but it didn't do anything. This is the error I get on my phone when I try to add my wife's phone under geofencing > enabled mobile devices. Thanks again

Can you set up geofencing using her phone (and her account)?

Hi, no there's no option to edit/change geofencing on her phone. I assume that's because she's a kinda guest account invited by me?

Did you turn on the "Allow Access Rights" setting for her account?

Yes I did Stephen. I think as the error suggests I need to allow access under Settings>Privacy>Location Services on her iPhone but whatever I do I can't get Arlo Secure to show up there. I see apps you would expect like weather, maps, Uber, Waze etc but not Arlo. Thanks for your ongoing suggestions

FWIW, it does show up on my iPhone 12 mini (currently running iOS 17.6).

Location is set to always both in the Arlo settings themselves (Apple Settings->Arlo Secure) and in Settings->Privacy->Location Services.

Thanks, its so frustrating, I just can't get it to show in Settings>Privacy>Location Services despite numerous installs, offloads, deletions, reboots and re-installs in various ways.

I have the same issue!! I’ve been added to my husbands arlo yet cannot find arlo in location services despite adding/removing app, restarting etc. I have an iPhone SE.

really frustrated as we want to use geofencing

clearly an issue that needs a solution!

Thanks for letting me know there are more of us ! Searching around I see other people have the issue. It pretty much renders the system useless for us.

Is it possible to reach out to Apple support regarding the location services concern? I wonder if their OS on certain devices has an issue with accessing location.

I have the exact same phone as my husband and we are both up to date. Pretty sure it is something to do with the arlo app when you’re added as an extra user for geofencing purposes.

Hi Shayne,

I don't think they'd get involved in the support for third party apps. There are no other issues with the phone and location services works fine for the other 16 apps which use it.

Thanks Mike

I actually have an android phone. The invite and acceptance all works but the app just doesn't work on her brand new iPhone 14 running IOS 17.6.1 no matter what I try. I'm at the point of giving up.  good luck and if you getting it working let me know - I'll obviously do the same

So tried removing/adding etc all over again…when I sign in for the first time after being invited by my husband I get this message:

The list of mobile devices that participate in Geofencing have been reset as part of the migration to the new Arlo Secure app. Please contact the owner of your Arlo system to use this mobile device to automatically trigger Away Mode / Home Mode changes based on your location.

not sure if that helps answer a question. It just won’t work!

Which version of the Arlo app does this occur on? Are you running Arlo app 4.17?

Thanks

Hi Shayne,

My wife's iPhone 14 (iOS 17.6.1) is running Arlo 4.17 (7924). This is the phone I'm adding/inviting to our system.

My phone is a Samsung Galaxy M33 5G (android v14)  is running Arlo 4.18_28711. This is the master phone from which I'm sending the invite through enabled devices.

Many thanks
