Previously I was able to group cameras together and have them activated while disabling others. I was able to configure multiple combinations in this manner. Example, in the summer I don't want my backyard camera activated since everyone is out there while keeping my front and side cameras activated. At other times I want only the front activated while others are disabled. In the new App, I only have the 3 preconfigured modes - Arm Home, Arm Away and Standby that disabled all the cams. Am I missing something?

We’ve heard your feedback, and the development team is working hard to deliver a similar custom modes experience that legacy users have come to enjoy while maintaining all the new improvements and features included in the latest version of the Arlo Secure App. We will keep the community up to date as we approach the release of this highly anticipated feature.

Thank you all for your continued feedback in helping make the Arlo experience the best it can be!

Nope, you got it.However, you can use all 3, regardless of the names, to do what you need. There has also been a recent announcement that custom modes are being worked on but no details are available yet as to features or timing.

@BrookeN This sounds like it's something to really get excited about. But actually, this feature was there and was removed by your development team (for some reason unclear to anyone on here and probably beyond)

Anyway, 'Arlo taketh away and Arlo giveth' comes to mind, so I suppose we ought to be grateful Arlo even considereth after such much lobbying.

What's next on the agenda?

So, you have been hearing from customers that they need MODES back for complex control - as I do - Since mid 2024!!!!!!!!  So now you are considering it but not yet committing to it nor to a date!

Pathetic - and I used to recommend ARLO and a few friends have purchased it due to my recommendations.

Do you truly not have a user group to advise you?

@befuddled1

Are they still speaking to you? (I mean the friends) 😉

We don't need anything new! Just bring back the Modes menu where we could arm/disarm/geofence our cameras based on base stations.

Is it possible to offer the prior application until configurable modes are offered in current application?  Is there an ECD for adding configurable modes to the current application?  I understand this new application better leverages the whole home security products offered.  However, as noted by others (and myself) it complicates and limits existing customers who appreciated features offered by the previous application and high quality cameras.

When will this feature be brought back? The new app without this feature is terrible. Please bring this feature back. Or let us install the old version of the app. I was thinking of upgrading and adding more Arlo cameras but that's on hold now. May be time to look for another solution if this is not resolved soon. There are plenty of other services on the market.

I do not have an exact ETA as of today, I will update the community as soon as possible.

Last night I agreed to upgrade to the new version of the app and then realized all my custom modes were gone. I was in shock. I just talked to tech support and tried to revert back to the previous version. They can no longer do that as some other users have claimed in the past, so I am stuck with only three ways to configure 14 Arlo cameras inside and outside my property. I asked if they knew when an update was coming or if custom modes would be added back in and they had no information regarding this.

Can you tell me for certain that you are hearing that they are working on adding this capability back in? Are you able to communicate with the team that works on upgrades to the app? I hope this is in the works and not just on the back burner. I feel completely blindsided by the loss of this functionality.

The development team is currently working on more modes. I do not have an exact ETA but I will reach out as soon as I have an update.

I hope they're aware that they don't need to add 'more modes'.  They need to re-add Custom Modes, and, those custom modes need to be able to control the motion and sound sensitivity settings for each camera as they did in the version that was stolen from us.

Arlo is running the exact play book from Sonos in 2024. Release a new app that takes away functionalities, piss off their user base, issue some vague apologies, promise to ‘fix’ the app. Blah, blah. I hope they learn from Sonos. If not, it’s not going to end well for them. There are plenty of competitors out there who will welcome their customers.

Actually, Sonos screwed up long before that.  They released a new version years ago that removed functionality from the older speakers.  Shortly after that I pulled all of mine and never looked back.

But I agree, this is the same stupid game Arlo is playing and it's not going to work out well for them.  There are other, and now better alternatives.

I agree that they need to allow the motion and sound sensitivity to be set independently for each mode.

And you need the ability to include only some or all of the cameras under each mode

Yes.  But you can already do that with Feed, and it seems unlikely that they would remove that.
