Has anyone worked out how to turn off notifications when someone changes mode?

Since the update to Arlo Secure 4.0, I now get a notification whenever someone changes the mode (From Home to Disarm etc). This notification is exactly the same one I get if I actually get an intruder or something.

It is an abysmal system as now, when my son comes home at 2am, he either turns off the system, which alerts and wakes me up, or he doesn't turn off the system which then alerts and wakes me up.

Under the previous version of app, these were different alerts so you could turn off the mode change alerts and only have actual alerts, but this is now gone.

My system has turned to junk as I either have to leave it off all night, turn off ALL notifications (the reason for having it in the first place), or accept I get woken up at ungodly hours.

I have talked to support and they say they can put in a feature request for it... This is patently absurd as it is a coding error on the so called "upgrade" to version 4 which is making my system useless....it isnt a "feature"...

Has anyone worked out a workaround? Home assistant or somthing?

BTW - I am using android, have about 11 cameras (Pro 2, Ultra and Ultra 2) and couple of base stations.

Are you still seeing this same behavior?

Hi, unfortunately yes, still occurring.

I do not have input regarding workaround, but I want to share my similar experience that when there is mode change, it SOMETIMES gives notification to my android here.  Sometimes the mode changes in front of me in the app screen, but it just does NOT give notification.  Sometimes the mode change was done by my google home automation, its does change but again, many times it does NOT give notification.

I am not much annoyed by this (no 2am issue), but must say this is some inconsistent behaviour, related to yours.

I'll just keep watching this thread too.

For manual mode changes, you won't be able to switch off notifications. I presume it's to alert someone if they accidently change modes.

For automatic mode change notifications, go into schedules and remove notifications as part of schedule changes:

'Routines' > 'Automations' > click on each 'Schedule' and then remove notifications 'Send a notification' in the 'Then' section. Remember to save!

Whether your phone gets notifications may also depend, in addition to the above, on whether it's in the don't disturb mode.

A way forward is to set up automations, but this would rely on your son coming back at regular times.

Same problem here and I agree this is major pain in the ***

I have the same issue....very annoying and defeats the purpose for a typical user where you will start ignoring the notifications!  Put it back to the old way where a authorized user can arm or disarm the system without firing off notifications to everyone!

Hey Edinburg Lad, unfortunately the problem is the random times. I could schedule if it was regular.. but 23 year olds are anything but regular.

Wa0vrc, agreed. I honestly have started ignoring the notifications as they are so often... Makes the system useless for real warnings....

Then I suggest that you leave your cameras armed (recording in the evening) and create a rule where you'll not get notifications between 11pm and 6am (for example). The advantage is that you'll know what time your 23 year old gets home (and also in what state) 😉😎🤣

haha. That's always good footage...

I do have some of the front ones wired in and they record in all modes but only alert when armed.. so I do get that footage regardless....
