This part of the Arlo ecosystem is a total design error.  The function and code may all be great, but the implementation is very poor.

With the different user interfaces (UIs), evident by the different tabs at the bottom between versions, there are at least two versions of the app out there.  I had 5.4.0 released Jan 4, 2025 while my wife had 5.4.2 released Jan 15, 2025.  Seem like the latest versions, but they are actually two different apps with different navigation.  To share cameras, they need to be the SAME app.

The new version is the one with Dashboard / Feed / Emergency / Devices / Routines at the bottom.  The other user needs to get their phone on this platform, hence needs the update.

The design issue that I am complaining about is that there is NO UPDATE option in support.

HOW TO UPDATE

You must update by installing a new device, then bailing on the installation (I did this when it required me to scan the new device QR code) because you don't have it to actually install.  Yeah, makes sense, right?  No, but that's how you do it.  I saw someone advise to install a "Pro5 cam", but that made no sense to me because I didn't have one to install, but I got into a chat with Arlo and they had me install a new device "Security System".  Again, this triggers the installation / update to the new software.  Problem solved.  This all would likely have worked fine with the Pro5 cam as well, or any other new product from Arlo.  Hope this is helpful!

What would be helpful is if you can tell us how much you are enjoying the new arlo UI experience?

Not quite right.  The app supports both user interfaces - that has been the case for 2 years now.  Which one you get depends on how Arlo has your account configured in their cloud.

You don't need to have the camera for this hack to work.  Although you can't complete the installation without the camera, you will be migrated to "Feed" before you get stuck.

Installing the security system (which you don't have either!) also works.  I recommend the Pro 5s instead, because the security system can only be installed if your account was created in the US.  The Pro 5s hack works worldwide.

You had another option.  You and your wife can both use the same username/password on your phones.  Then you would have had the same interface (with no need to use the "friend" account feature).  Note this would have solved the problem even though you were running 5.4.0 and your wife was running 5.4.2  Both phones would have used the "Library" interface.

Not sure what you are meaning here.  What would you want an UPDATE option in support to do?  Are you wanting to update a support case????
