I have just seen images of the Arlo app that now has revised icons with Dashboatd etc. However, I can't see these icons on any of the Arlo apps I have installed on three separate devices, nor can I see any options in the settings to turn it on. What am I missing?

You're referring to the new user interface (UI) but you currently have the old one. If you wish, you can migrate by installing either a Pro 5 or security system, even though you have neither. The first step is to migrate to the new UI after which you can just back out of the bogus install. Be aware that you can't go back to the old UI and you need to take time to look through the whole new one to find where things are and how they operate.
