My Arlo app was just forcefully updated and it seems like the camera positioning feature was removed. I saw a post that mentioned this removal and suggested using the live camera preview as a better alternative. The problem with this is the live preview doesn't show the active area like the camera positioning feature used to show. So it's impossible to assure the correct area is covered by the active area in the camera's view.

That feature is no longer available. You could create an activity zone within the app to make sure the areas you are wanting recordings from are covered. That may help with what it sounds like you are trying to achieve.

The app used to mask off the top third of the screen. You can estimate that pretty easily when positioning the camera.
This inactive area was always approximate. The PIR sensors will sometimes trigger, even if the motion is at the top of the field of view. The sensitivity does drop off, but it is not a knife edge drop to zero.

A pretty ridiculous decision to remove that so easy to use and understand feature, isn't it?
Like the functions of the app itself.
Sad.

that may help. but it's hard to position the camera in live feed. not like the old version. you have to wait for it to upload so you can see the area . BRING BACK THE OLD APP VERSION.
