In a traditional Arlo style, it's quid pro quo.

 

I now have a window 'call in progress' that is obscuring the video stream from the camera connected to the audio doorbell whenever I answer the doorbell.

 

Why is that window there, obscuring the view?

Try to uninstall and reinstall the app and see if that makes a difference in what you are seeing.
