I have an Arlo Pro system.

I want to shoot and record the outside action through a window.

I know I need the following:

  • Add an Arlo Q (which detects pixel changes, not PIR, and works through glass).
  • Arlo Q must be powered to an electrical outlet.
  • Arlo Q must be used indoors.

Questions:

  1. How do I connect the new Q to my existing Pro base station?
  2. Where will the recorded video be stored?
  3. Is there anything else I need to know to make this work?

@dezinahgirl

I don't own an Arlo Q, so I cannot answer all your questions, but the Q and Q Plus connect directly to the router and no Base station is needed. Videos will record in the Cloud.

Hey @dezinahgirl,

You can read more here regarding if motion detection works through glass or window: Does motion detection work through glass or windows?

FWIW, I've always had a Q pointed through glass with very few problems.
