Do the Arlo Q cameras have to stay pluged in at all times in order for them to work and, are they for indoor use only?
When I purchased the system, the sales rep. told me they were for outdoor as well. I don't want to have them outside if it will
ruin them.

Q cameras are powered by a wall wart and must always be plugged in - no batteries. And they're only rated for indoors partly due to the power but also because the case likely isn't sealed. It might be OK as long as protected such as in an upper corner of a car port but you're on your own warranty-wise if something goes wrong.
