If I connect my Arlo Q to an external device for continuous recording… will there be a monthly fee?

What are you planning to connect it to? 

 

I don't know of any way to actually get continuous recording other than through the Arlo CVR subscription.  While you could livestream to a PC or tablet, and then record the PC/tablet screen, the livestream will automatically be time out and be terminated fairly quickly.
