Arlo Q for outdoor use

I am a new owner, and I like the setup.

I have 2 pro 2 cameras, and would like a bit more distance for motion detection.

I have read that the model Q has a lot longer range, like 50 ft compared to 15 ft for the pro 2.

I have seen a few posts from 2 years ago and looking for updates.

Any new ideas for weather proofing a "Q"

How are they holding up outside, how do you weather proof.

The Q Plus, same design as the Q, is not suitable for outdoor use.

The Q model is not made for outdoors....  That being said;

yes, the Q has better range over 50 ft as the trigger is by pixel change over a PIR device ( when the picture changes it will trigger )

Also I have use the Q outdoors ( in summer ) in a covered area which could not get water on ... no issues over the two months used.

As to sealing up, there was someone on the site that did same.... not pretty but it worked.

Yep I know the current design is not meant for outside use.

If used outside it may void the warranty.

However there are always those that see the benefits of the technology, and want to use it "off label"

Just trying to see how they do it.

If you are after wifi range, and have a bottomless budget, the new Floodlight doesn't need a hub. A wifi source will do. But it also requires a subscription for cloud recordings.

My wifi is not the issue, and I know I could just add additional arlo pro cameras.

I like the different way the Q detects motion.
