I currently have 3 cameras with an Arlo Q and would like to add a camera. Does it matter if I buy another Arlo Q or do I need to purchase a regular model to remain compliant with the 5 cameras?

You can mix and match any of the Arlo cameras... The limit is on the NUMBER of cameras based on your service level.
So, yes what you want to do is possible on the Basic level... BUT remember If you pick another Q camera, that Q will operate like your current one ; ie it's own system.
Tho all will be viewable in the app/web prgm , each ARLO base / Q /Q will havei its own schedule , arming , etc
