I seem to be having the problem I’m reading here. A solid amber light. I’ve held down the reset button for more than 10 seconds several times, tried holding down the sync button as well. I’ve unplugged it for a full day and tried plugging it back in. I’ve had this device for less than 1 year and it’s saying I have to pay to call customer support? What is going on here???

If you not using the support page at bottom of site, then more than likely it's a phoney site that will charge.
The real Arlo site does not ask for payment.

As to the reason for the issue your having, sorry but have no idea
