Arlo Q Plus Hardware - VMC3040Sr6 - Version 4.13 (7415) - Released 3/2024

Last week voices - a conversation apparently - were coming over the camera .  The language may have been Eastern European.  Several months ago it was the same situation only the conversation was in English.

I've changed passwords (complex) several times.  Changed internet passwords more than once.  The first time the camera was plugged into the router with a usb cable.  this time the camera was plugged into a wall outlet.

In surfing I see this has been and apparently is still a security vulnerability with this product.

An additional concern is once hackers have obtained access to the camera is there a danger of them being able to access the home network and/or devices?

I've corresponded with Arlo on more than one occassion and now have a case number but have had  no interaction or phone to call.

Those that have experience with the product is there a solution without changing product?

Thank you

Any hacker would need access to the account via my.arlo.com.

If they ever had that, then they could have used the "Friend" account feature to share the camera.  You could check for that using this guide:

If you've logged into my.arlo.com on a PC, then I also suggest running a malware scan on that PC.

Not something I've seen.  Where exactly are you seeing this info?

While I haven't seen reports on this with Arlo cameras, there were similar reports in the press about Ring cameras several  years ago.  The  breach back then was due to customers using weak account passwords.  Ring, Arlo, and others responded by making two-factor authentication mandatory.

I have seen some old security advisories, but nothing that hasn't been fixed.  The most recent one was fixed in 2021.
