I set up one Arlo Q Plus using POE and 2 Arlo Q using wi-fi. It became obvious that the POE device was not behaving as well as the other devices. It had wired ethernet and straight power over the ethernet. It would not update the firmware and would not stay connected long.
I then disconnected the ethernet cable and connected the usb charger to it and used wi-fi and it worked well. I had been using a Netgear GS305P switch using the proper port for the highest power. It also was the only device on the switch that used POE. The switch got swapped out to an ASUS GP105. This went from a possible total of 15.4 watts per port (55.5 watts total available for the switch) to 30 watts per port (80 watts total available for the switch). Now it works great. It may be that POE needs more power if there are problems.
