arlo pro seems to like rear mainly

7 out of 10 vidoes the pro recorded as a result of motion detection, i mostly see the back of the car driving away, the back of the person walking away. a few times (can count by fingers), the cam captured the front of the object that was approaching.

any tips and tricks? or it is like that for all battery powered cam?

i gave up on the ring stick up due to lagging in recording. went to nest. i have 1 spot i can only use battery cam and got arlo pro, after seeing more positive review

Rotate the camera down for sure - eliminate the street.  Assuming the people enter via the sidewalk barely in view at the bottom I'd also either rotate it to the right some (as seen in the image) so the person is in view longer so the trigger will happen sooner.  You could also locate the camera further to the right rather than what appears to be over the door.
