will the Arlo pro work on a metal pole barn?

Yes. And I have installed a few myself against a sheet metal roof with no issues. But like all things involved with data transfer, you are subject to interference and nearby metal objects don’t help the range you could get, though I believe it’s safe to say that you should have zero worries.
