Hi - can anyone please help. I had a VMB3000 for over 10 years linked to an old Arlo Pro camera. The base station stopped working so bought a VMB4540. I just cannot get the new base station to connect via Ethernet to my WiFi router. I plug in cable first, power second. Router light goes orange for about 30 secs, then blue for about 30 secs then just flashes orange permanently. Also tried factory reset twice, but did not work. I don’t think the router is the problem as the old VMB3000 worked perfectly on it for ages.

Thanks.

Do you mean the smarthub LED?  Or are you talking about your router?

If you mean the smarthub, then the orange flashing might be because no cameras are connected.  Did you try adding it to your account at that point?

Also, are you seeing the smarthub in your router's attached device list?

Hi Stephen

thanks for the reply. I mean that it is the VMB smart hub where the orange light is flashing orange. I believe that means it is not connected to the internet even though my WiFi router is working perfectly well for everything else in my house. And if I open the Arlo App on my phone and try and go to “add new device” the app cannot find the smart hub. As the smart hub is not showing as a device in the app, then there is no point in trying top connect the camera. Maybe this new VMB4540 is faulty. Thanks.

I suggest looking at the attached device list on the router, and see if you see the camera listed there.

If the router has LEDs on the LAN ethernet ports, then also look at the status there.

Generally, flashing amber is a camera connection issue while solid amber is an Internet connection issue.

Hi - after a couple of days of repeated attempts to get the hub to work properly including several re-boots, it did connect correctly to both internet and my old Arlo Pro camera. This worked satisfactorily for a couple of days, with app recording movements and showing live picture. Then it stopped working permanently. So I have now bought a VMB3000 hub (which is what I had originally) to replace the VMB4540 and now all is working fine.
