I have an old system that is still doing its job.
The problem I haven't found an answer to has been existent from day one. Previous posts on this has never had a solution. So, I'll try one more time. Maybe something new, like AI, has come up with an answer.
I would like my cameras to record video as long as there is motion and that's the choice I've chosen over the years. However, that's never happened. The longest recording I've had on any camera has been 30+ seconds. Normal is around 12-29 seconds. So, I opted to have the cameras record for the 2 minute maximum. That presents a problem in that if something is moving, the recording will stop even if the movement continues and will not start recording again - stays off. Sometimes the camera doesn't activate until after the fact.
I would like the cameras to record any/all activity until the activity stops. If someone has a solution, please let me know. If not, I have learned to live with the 2 minute choice.
Thank you for your time and interest.

Have you tried the remove/reset/reinstall procedure to see if that helps with the detection? If still in warranty, official support may be able to help - use the app to go to Settings, Support to see what they may say.

The big thing is you need to understand how "record until motion stops" works. The CAMERA has to determine any motion, not your eye. Since the max distance is ~20-25 feet, depending on the specific cameras and how it's positioned, the PIR sensors still have to be able to detect the motion. Brief pauses can cause the recordings to stop due to no motion detectable - my early testing indicated a 5 second pause was sufficient to terminate the recording.
In any event, both the timed and the whole motion continues settings will resume after a brief reset period (5-10 seconds). You should test this in your situation by moving across the FOV at different distances, pausing and resume walking to calibrate yourself as to what the cameras will and won't do.
Because of all this, the timed recordings are frequently the "best" solution. I still suggest the testing since that will provide definitive results for consideration.

Thank you for your reply.
First of all, I understand how video cameras work. Not the same as my eyes. Let me clarify what I have personally experienced with my cameras, all of them in various locations. I will use our front door for the example here.
I have one camera positioned on the garage eave aiming at the front door. It also has a slim view of the street our house is situated on. When I turn the camera on there is a perfectly good view of the door. And, on the upper portion of the camera, I can see autos passing our house on the street, which is about 100-125 feet from the camera. This is true at night, as well, as the camera records autos passing with their headlights on. So I know the camera is positioned properly for recording motion.
As for recording motion, I have stood in front of the door and waving my arms for at least 1 minute all while waking in a circle. Keep in mind, this is when the cameras are on a timed schedule, not when I turn one on outside the schedule. The camera records it for about 12-15 seconds then stops. Sometimes it will begin recording again, but not always. So, I set the cameras for "duration" which is 120 seconds. I'm fine with that except I'd prefer the cameras record "until motion stops" because there have been occasions where activity continued after the 2 minutes. Classic example was when someone drove through our front yard and took out 75 feet of chain link fence and continued down the street. Because of that, I wasn't able to show the police anything beyond the 23 second recording. No chance to stop the recording beyond the 23 seconds and get a clear view of the vehicle's license plate. So If the "until motion stops" is not viable, then why is it an option. Why not just set a 5 or more minute duration? Or, better yet, give an option for the user to select a number of minutes in the duration mode, like 1 up to 10 or 15 minutes?

Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I've done everything - uninstall, re-install, reset, but no solution.
Made this post to see if maybe something I missed would resolve the issue but, because the system is old I'm sure there's nothing that can be done. I'll just live with the 2 minute duation.
Thanks for your help and time.
