Recently bought Arlo Pro in home cameras. Sometimes motion detection works, sometimes not, at 100%. What can I do to fix this. It also eats through batteries. Setting is on best battery life.

Battery life is based on the total number of minutes of live viewing and recording. Spec life is for <5 minutes on average per day. Along with that is the signal strength/quality which can be caused by house construction, objects on/in the walls, distance, nearby wireless devices that also use the 2.4GHz band, etc.

That doesn’t explain why motion detection isn’t reliably working. I’ve deleted device and reinstalled. Motion only detected when Lea than 5 feet from camera. Camera is visible from base and about 15 feet away.

Have you read the FAQs here on best camera positioning and motion detection in the support area here? If motion is directly at the camera, the PIR sensor has trouble detecting the motion. Also, be sure to set your motion sensitivity in your modes and rules since the motion test is just a test.
