Pre-Purchase Question - I need more information on the Arlo Pro System

The Arlo camera system packages all seem to include a base station, however there does not seem to be a great deal of information as to what this base station actually does.

I have a Netgear Nighthawk, AC1900 Smart WiFi Router, Model R7000 that already seems to include interface for the Arlo cameras.

Do I still need a base station?

If so, what is the interface to my router?

Where can I get more information about the expected performance of the Arlo Pro cameras? (e.g. battery life, performance, motion detection sensitivity, resolution, etc.)

The R7k no longer supports Arlo. You must use a base.

As for your last questions, there's a ton of info here for the searching/reading.

The base sets up it's own wifi network that talks to the cameras only...... regular 802.11n

I have been looking for a typical set of product specifications that are normally provided (e.g. connection requirements, power requirements, battery life per usage chart, adjustable parameters, motion detection range/sensitivity, how the camera reports an event, etc.).  I currently have Belikn plug-in cameras, and they send me an e-mail when there is a detection event.  I am unable to find even that bit of information. 

I have searched for some of these items in this community, however, most postings are dealing with a very specific problem, and do not really provide the general performance information I am looking for.

In example, when purchasing an item on Amazon, there is usually a "specifications" tab that contains details about the item.  The main page of the Arlo site is primarily advetising fluff that tells how great the system is, but provides no hard details.

The Arlo system seems like it would be a good replacement/upgrade from my current system.  I just need to know more about it before I purchase it.

Arlo and Arlo Pro require a base unit ( comes with in kits ) and hooks to ethernet port on you router with a min of 1Mbs upload

Q cameras don't use a base but hook directly into you home wifi

power requirements;

Bases run on 12vDC but ac adapter included , output of 1.5a

Q camera runs on  micro usb 5v with ac adapter. aprox 1.5a too ( Q Plus can also run POE )

Pro camera runs on battery pack, ac qualcomm  compatible hi-speed  dual voltage charger included ; camera will run on 5v but needs 9v to charge pack

Arlo runs on 4 - 123 type cells as OEM, there are rechargables from Netgear available

battery life;

Arlo and Arlo pros spec out to 4-6 months on OEM batteries with usage rate of =<5 min per day with video setting on Optimized

I get about 4 months on Arlo with best video, about 3 months on Pro

Battey life is directly related to how much the camera is used...these are "motion detect then record " type of cameras , not 24/7

motion detection range/sensitivity;

For people, Arlo has a max range of about 20ft, Arlo Pro about 25, Q cameras about 50ft+

Arlo/Arlo Pro use PIR device to detect motion , Q cameras use Pixel- base change detection

camera reports an event;

cameras can send alerts via Pushes on ios/ android and Emails, On Web base PCs, emails only
