My base station recently stopped working. It’s plugged in and makes a soft ticking sound but does not actually switch on.

Same here. I bought the product from the US when I was there, but I live in Dubai. 
When I contracted their customer support, they said they will replace it, but I have to bring it back to the US... although they do have re-sellers in the UAE...  hilarious. 

Garbage product. bad customer support & local mindset. You can't possibly run a company like this...

I discovered that the faulty one was purchased from a local vendor who agreed to switch it with another.
