Hey guys, just wanted to get some opinions on what would be the optimum placements for my 2 cameras (1 on backyard and 1 on sideyard).

1.) Backyard:

- 1st position: Center on the back of the house directly looking down.

- 2nd position: Side on the back of the house.

2.) Sideyard:

- 1st position: at the far end of the house.

- 2nd position: middle part on the side of the house.

Thank you!

Somebody the positioning will just take trial and error. For the backyard, I tend to think the side shot is better as long as you rotate down and maybe a bit to the left some. I have no experience with straight down but suspect it will be problematic. For the side, neither is really preferable since motion is primarily directly towards the camera. Mounting it so it's turned 90 degrees to allow motion to be sure to side would be much better.

Thank you for the suggestions @jguerdat

I too prefer the side mounted shot on the backyard. However, The problem I encountered with turning the camera to the left a little bit is that the IR for the nightvision reflects too much on the wall and washes out the screen a bit. I guess I would have to find the most optimum angle for it. A longer mounting arm should solve the problem, but non exist from Netgear.

As for the side, I agree that the motion detection would be poor for this one as it is head on. I think I will have this camera as a "monitor" only cam. I could also mount on the eave of the roof looking directly down and sideways to solve the motion detect issue.

In anycase, more suggestions would be welcome.

Thank you!

For your side camera, instead of moving the camera left/right, you might try tilting the camera side to side (on the vertical axis). just a bit.

I agree with the suggestions for the rear yard.

Good luck.
