The Pro and Pro 2 cameras were sold with free 7-day cloud storage, and Arlo continues to provide that feature with those cameras. There is a limit of 5 unsubscribed cameras per account (which has always been there).
Pro 3, Pro 4, and Pro 5s cameras all need a subscription for any cloud storage (as do all currently sold Arlo cameras).
Local storage is a feature of the VMB4000, VMB4500, VMB4540, and VMB5000 hubs (not the cameras). Local recording does not require a subscription. Howver, only the VMB4540 and VMB5000 hubs support playback (and among other restrictions, that playback is limited to the app, not the browser). If you have a VMB4000 or VMB4500, the ONLY way to see the local recordings is to eject the storage via the app, and then connect it to a PC.
Other subscription features include activity zones (when on battery or solar power), and smart notifications.

Hi StephenB,
I have 4 Arlo Pro cameras and a VMB4000 base station. No subscription and 7 day free cloud.
With the new Secure Home web software ver 5.3.3, the base station was automatically updated to the latest firmware successfully added to the devices list and is able to go online.
However, no matter what I try I cannot get any of the cameras to be enrolled into the devices list.
Re set to factory, re synced, nothing works.
Note: The cameras are very definitely synced to the base station, just not showing in the Android secure app or the PC web software 5.3.3.
I believe the problem lies with the main software and should be corrected as soon as possible.
My system is pretty useless as it is!
Best regards,
SteveH.

Migration to "Feed" usually doesn't require any action to reinstall your devices.
Resetting the base with a paper clip would require to you remove/readd cameras to the account.
Are you looking at the "Dashboard" screen? Or are you also checking "Devices"?

Hi StephenB,
Migration to "Feed" usually doesn't require any action to reinstall your devices.
In my case, I have always been on a feed system, since it was Netgear.
Resetting the base with a paper clip would require to you remove/readd cameras to the account.
Yes several times and it always ends the same. (as per above).
Are you looking at the "Dashboard" screen? Or are you also checking "Devices"?
Both, the dashboard shows the base is in standby (green), but can be armed (red), arm home (amber).
I get notifications these actions have taken place in the feed screen. No feed from any cameras.
The only item in the devices list is the base station because I cannot add any cameras, (which have all been factory reset and re-synced). The base station leds are all green.
Regards,
SteveH.

No idea what you mean by a "feed system".
The "Feed" interface was launched in January 2023. Arlo was divested by Netgear in 2018. So back then, there was only the "Library" interface.

I've seen a few posts from folks with similar issues. I'm tagging the mods - @BrookeN . @JamesC , and @ShayneS - in hopes they will help.

@StephenB Hi, My mistake, all this time I thought it was a feed interface, not realising the 7 Day free cloud was actually a library interface!
Thanks for referring this problem for more attention.
Regards,
SteveH.

Both interfaces still provide the 7-day free storage for legacy cameras.
Don't overthink the interface question. If you see "Library" in the app menu, then you are using the "Library" interface. If you see "Feed" and "Dashboard" instead, then you are using "Feed". Arlo sometimes calls the "Feed" interface "Arlo 4.0", instead of "Feed".
