Does the motion and sound detection still function when the camera is live

Does the motion and sound detection still function when the camera is live. I would hate to miss something if I happen to walk away from the cameras and not have the system record it.

If by "live" you mean live viewing, no. Live view overrides detection and recording. You have to manually record.
