Does the new Pro base station allow you to manually configure the WiFi channel it uses? Or is it the same as the old model which defaults to the same channel as your existing wireless router.

There's no mention in any of the literature about this so I suspect it's like the old base.  However, there's good reasons for piggybacking the channel like this - there was a post a year ago about an article describing this as a good strategy.  Some folks claim to have had problems due to use of the same channel but without knowing more it's also possible that the issues were due to something else.

Well Netgear's justification was that because the base station and router are next to each other they need to use the same channel. This is just the easy/simple option to avoid crosstalk from overlapping channels. This is fine as a default, should work for most, configuration.

However, some people have measured a drop in SNR at client devices when the Arlo base station is switched on. This may be dependent on the specific router the Arlo is partnered with, but this could be avoided with the ability to configure a different, non-overlapping channel (1,6,11).

Just sounds like an option a "pro" device should have to me.
