Hi there,

Last night, I installed the cable for one of the cameras to be always plugged. The camera was at about 80% when I finished drilling the holes, routing the cable and connecting it. I'm using the original charger and cable.

When the power got to 100%, the user interface displayed the full black bar, with the lightning strike in the middle and the blue LED on the camera turned on solid blue (of course, the setting in the camera to turn the LED is on and it's what I'd like for it to do; so the camera can be seen). When I woke up this morning I noticed the LED is now off but the UI still shows as charging (with the same lightning strike through the full black battery indicator).

Why did it turned off by itself, if the camera was never unplugged? Shouldn't it be solid blue when the charge hits 100%? Why does this inconsistency exists between the user interface (showing full charge) and the blue LED (not showing as fully charged)?

Would you please chime in if you have an idea of what might be going on and what your experiencies are on the charging mechanism? Also, if some of you also use the always-plugged in setup, please let me know how the LED behaves.

Thanks in advance!

In truth, the battery WHILE in the camera never reaches a true 100% charge.... the pack sits some where above the 80% level SO users can leave the ac cable plugged in all the time and NOT DAMAGE the battery pack

I don't know why you saw the blue LED go out ...I've only left my plugged in till it cam on and not long term...but that may be the case.

Either way, go by what the % level is in the app/web prgm ...if that showas as full, then it is as it's pretty accurate ( +/- a few % in my experience )

Thanks for your reply Tom.

Yeah, I've seen the thread about the ~80% charge from (I think) JamesC. I understand that and know that my camera is fully charged by seeing it in the UI screen, but I'd love to have the blue LED on (as expected) in order to make the camera pop-up and discourage thieves.

Should it be kept on all the time? If someone with the same set up could let me know, I'll appreciate it greatly.
