When will Netgear resolve the quirkness of the Arlo App login? I have an iOS phone, and the fingerprint login is disabled. I access the app several times per day to check my Pro cams. Occasionally I must click Login and wait a few more seconds for the cameras to load. This has occurred on 2 different iPhones and in both iOS 10 & 11. Yes, the app has been reloaded and upgraded many times over the past year.

The Ring app has never exhibited this problem and loads much faster. I assume this is due to the fact it doesn't connect to a base. All your base are belong to us?

jcwrks,

Are you getting error messages? After the app logs in, it will take a few seconds for the app to load the thumbnail and make live view accessible, this is expected.

No errors. I am simply presented with the login screen at random times throughout the day. As an example I opened the Arlo app this morning without having to click login, and once I'm finished I press the Home button to switch to a different app (I am not closing it). Roughly 30 min later when I opened the app I have to click Login again.

I also noticed that sometimes the app appears to time out or gets hung up. When I switch modes the setting mode banner pops up at the bottom and never shows that it switched to the new mode. Even if I go to Library and back it's still hung up. I can then close the app and reopen and the new mode is selected.

It's also worth noting that even though I am following this thread I was not notified by email until 4 hrs. ago. The email also has formatting errors.

The app automatically logs out after a period of inactivity from the user, whether in the forground or not. That's why you have to log in again. If you go Home and reopen the app prior to the timeout, you don't have to log in again. I haven't tested the timeout period in some time but I believe it's on the order of 10 minutes.

I have also had a few occasions where selecting modes has been problematic. Sometimes I get an error (if I wait long enough - a minute or two) while other times I seem to need to switch away from the screen to get it to refresh. I don't know what causes this.

Good news is that I received an email 40 min ago showing I had a reply. I just opened the arlo app and it took me to the modes screen. I let it sit for 1 min, the screen went white and said Offline, then a few seconds later it's back on the mode screen. With that said an hour had lapsed since I opened the app and I was not presented with a login screen. So in my experience it is very inconsistent, and it really should not log you out at all unless you login via the web.

Something else I failed to mention is that sometimes when you are in the modes screen to switch modes, you lock your phone, then 15-30 min later you unlock the phone and it's on the modes screen you may not be able to switch modes. You either receive an "unable to change modes" error or the spinning circle and no error.

Earlier I was presented with a gold colored banner up top that said something to the extent of "Failed to change modes because your internet connection has been lost". The only thing that changed was I went from LTE cell service to my home wifi. Therefore the app appears to have issues recognizing the handoff (interface change) from cell data to another connection.

I've also noticed this 'quirkiness'. If I arrive home and open the app while still on LTE but then the phone joins my home wifi, it seems to get stuck. I force quit the app and open it again and since the entire process has occurred while on wifi, it works fine. Now I either try open the app a bit before or after connecting to wifi rather than have it change in the middle of trying to do something
