I understand that a wifi router can be close to the arlo pro base station without interference problems. By default, the 2.4 Ghz band is set to 145 Mbps speed. Can I set my router (netgear R6250) to 300 Mbps which uses 40 MHz bandwidth? Will this cause problems with arlo pro base station?

Stay away from 40MHz  channel width if you have neighbors because you could increase the chance for interference. It's also worth noting that the Arlo base may match the channel used with your router if it's nearby, or it could use an overlapping channel. Some people move the base 20' away or to a different room because it could reduce the overall performance of your other 2.4GHz devices. IMO Netgear should allow you to pick your own channel and hide the ssid.

I've got my base right next to my Netgear R7000 router which is set for 600Mbs and 20/40MHz coexistence. I have no issues with my wireless devices.
